A tragic incident occurred in Ondo State, where a 28-year-old man reportedly lost his life due to electrocution after taking suspected hard drugs.
The man, whose name has not been disclosed, allegedly consumed the drugs and proceeded to climb a fence, where he touched a live electrical wire. This led to his instant electrocution.
Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Friday, December 6, 2024. She described it as a preventable tragedy and urged young people in the state to avoid drug abuse, emphasizing the dangers it poses to individuals and society.
Drug abuse remains a growing concern, with incidents like this highlighting the need for greater awareness and support for affected individuals. Authorities continue to encourage youths to make healthier choices and seek help when dealing with substance abuse issues.
“Esther Igbekeles Song ‘Se Normal’ is the best advice for those involved in Drug Abuse/ Substance use. Ondo State live wires and future (Youths). You have a long way to go, don’t allow Drugs take you away, a lot of people are looking up to you. A WORD is enough for the Wise,” she wrote.
“It’s saddening that some of our youth have refused to ‘ Se Normal’ despite the warnings. A young man of 28 years old suspected to have taken hard drugs, climbed a fence and touched a live wire , unfortunately he was electrocuted. RIP to the dead. DON’T BE A VICTIM, SE NORMAL.”
