The Obi of Onitsha, His Royal Majesty Nnaemeka Achebe, has issued a stern warning to Nigeria’s politicians about the dangers of ongoing corruption. Speaking at the Abuja launch of Bold Leap, a book by Senator Chris Anyanwu, the monarch expressed deep concerns about the state of the nation’s economy and leadership.
In his remarks, the Obi likened the country to a cow being over-milked. He warned that if corruption continues unchecked, the nation could eventually suffer the consequences. According to him, the current pattern of leadership, which favors personal gain over public interest, could lead to Nigeria’s downfall.
The Obi called on leaders to put the public good first, as this is the only way the nation can achieve growth and prosperity. He condemned the lack of accountability and good governance, stressing that the political class must change its approach for the country to move forward.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including former Presidents, governors, senators, and business leaders. President Bola Tinubu’s representative and other distinguished guests were present to witness the launch of Bold Leap, a 600-page autobiography by Senator Anyanwu. The event highlighted the growing need for change in Nigeria’s leadership to ensure a brighter future for the nation.
