In a major victory for Nigerian security forces, troops from Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside local vigilantes, successfully repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists in the Sabon Fegi community of Buni Yadi, located in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. The attack, which took place around 11 am, triggered a fierce gun battle that resulted in the deaths of four terrorists, including a key Boko Haram leader, Abu Shekau.
Abu Shekau was a prominent figure within the group and a loyal follower of the late Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau. His death is a significant blow to the terror group’s leadership. During the operation, Nigerian forces used superior firepower to force the remaining terrorists to flee, securing a decisive victory.
In addition to neutralizing the terrorist threat, the troops were able to recover a number of weapons from the insurgents, further weakening the group’s capabilities. This successful operation highlights the ongoing commitment of Nigerian forces to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of local communities in Yobe State.
