Super Eagles Triumph Over Benin Republic in 3-0 Victory (Video)

The Super Eagles of Nigeria began their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a convincing 3-0 win against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

This match held extra significance because Benin had previously defeated Nigeria earlier this year during World Cup qualifying. Additionally, Benin was coached by Gernot Rohr, the former Super Eagles coach.

In this game, Nigeria’s interim manager, Austin Eguavoen, opted for a forward trio of Ademola Lookman, Boniface, and Chukwueze, with star striker Victor Osimhen starting on the bench. The defense was anchored by captain Williams Troost-Ekong, alongside Ola Aina, Basset, and San Ajayi.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring with a brilliant goal in the first half. He showcased his skill by dribbling past three defenders and finishing the play with a precise shot just before halftime.

After the break, Nigeria raised their game, and the introduction of Victor Osimhen with 30 minutes remaining was met with great enthusiasm from the crowd. Osimhen quickly made an impact by scoring Nigeria’s second goal.

Lookman then sealed the match with his second goal, ensuring a 3-0 victory for the Super Eagles. This win puts Nigeria in a strong position in their AFCON qualifying group.
