In Moriki community, located in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bandits kidnapped 10 locals on the night of Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million.
A local resident shared that these attacks have become frequent, with bandits often targeting the community whenever they need money. Recently, the community paid N20 million to the bandits to be allowed access to their farms.
The resident also explained that the bandits raided houses, picking people up and threatening to harm them if the ransom isn’t paid by the deadline.
The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the incident, and the Commissioner of Police has sent operatives to rescue the victims and bring safety to the community.
