Two Men Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Commercial Sex Workers in Lagos

In a recent development, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two men suspected of robbing three commercial sex workers in the city. The arrest was confirmed by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who provided details of the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The unfortunate event took place on August 23, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm. The suspects allegedly picked up the victims from Adeniran Ogunsanya Street in the Bode Thomas area of Lagos, under the pretense of seeking their services. The victims, unsuspecting of any foul play, agreed to accompany the men, believing they were being taken to a location where the suspects claimed to reside.

However, things took a dark turn when the suspects abruptly stopped the vehicle midway, leaving the victims in shock and fear. It was at this moment that the true intentions of the suspects became clear. According to the police, the men proceeded to rob the women, taking their belongings and leaving them stranded.

The police launched an investigation following the incident, which quickly led to the identification and arrest of the suspects. During questioning, the men confessed to the crime, providing crucial information that aided the police in recovering some of the stolen items.

Among the recovered items was a Toyota Camry with registration number APP335 JA, which the suspects used during their operation. Additionally, the police found two blank number plates that the men had been using to avoid detection. A REDMI NOTE 12 mobile phone, belonging to one of the victims, was also recovered from the suspects.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the investigation is still ongoing, with the police working to uncover more details about the suspects’ activities. The arrest has been hailed as a success by the police, who are committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents in Lagos.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that individuals, especially commercial sex workers, may face in their line of work. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

As the investigation continues, the Lagos State Police Command is determined to bring the suspects to justice and ensure that they face the full weight of the law. The public is encouraged to cooperate with the police by providing any additional information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
