Nigerian National Arrested at Lahore in Pakistan Airport for Smuggling Cocaine

In a significant drug bust at Lahore International Airport, a Nigerian national has been arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Pakistan. The suspect, who arrived from Nigeria via Dubai, was detained by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) after being found with 38 capsules filled with cocaine hidden inside his stomach.

On August 29, 2024, the ANF reported that the capsules contained a total of 608 grams of cocaine. This arrest underscores a troubling trend of increasing drug smuggling activities involving foreign nationals.

In 2023, authorities in Pakistan arrested 10 Nigerian individuals involved in similar drug smuggling cases. During that year, a total of 4.811 kilograms of narcotics were seized. The trend has continued into 2024, with authorities conducting seven major operations so far this year. These operations have led to the arrest of eight Nigerian nationals and the confiscation of 11.420 kilograms of drugs.

The arrested man is currently facing charges under Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Act. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional details related to this case and to address the broader issue of international drug trafficking.
