Nigeria’s cocoa exports to the United States recorded a remarkable increase in 2025, rising from $21.7 million in 2024 to $142 million, reflecting growing demand for the country’s agricultural produce in the American market.
The development highlights the expanding trade relationship between both countries and the opportunities available to Nigerian farmers and exporters to increase their presence in international markets.
Meanwhile, wheat remains a major component of U.S. agricultural exports to Nigeria, accounting for 67 per cent of agricultural shipments from the United States to the West African nation.
The commodity plays an important role in meeting Nigeria’s domestic wheat demand, underscoring the complementary nature of agricultural trade between the two countries.
The growing exchange of agricultural products presents opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade, expand market access and support economic activities for farmers, businesses and consumers in both countries.
A fair and mutually beneficial trading partnership could further deepen economic cooperation between Nigeria and the United States while creating opportunities across their agricultural value chains.
