Talk about a possible joint ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2027 election is causing different reactions across Nigeria.
It will be recalled that in the 2023 election, Obi contested under the Labour Party, while Kwankwaso ran as the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
Recently, Kwankwaso met with leaders of the African Democratic Congress, and after the meeting, he joined the opposition coalition party.
On March 22, 2026, Obi, who is now a key figure in the ADC and a former governor of Anambra State, visited Kwankwaso in Kano during the Sallah celebration. The visit attracted a large crowd that welcomed both leaders.
After this meeting, many people started believing that the ADC may be planning to present an Obi-Kwankwaso joint ticket for the 2027 election.
Many Nigerians have begun to share their opinions about the possible alliance.
A civil servant in Abuja, Lilian Ijeoma, said such a partnership could change the country’s political direction, adding that Nigeria needs leaders with good records.
Also speaking, Emeka Nwafor, a political science student, described the potential alliance as a strong one.
Owigo Okolo, a broadcaster, said both politicians have loyal supporters and could win if they join forces. He even said he would be willing to vote for them.
On social media, many Nigerians are also sharing their thoughts about the situation.
Some users believe the alliance could bring positive change, pointing to Obi’s reputation and Kwankwaso’s political experience as a strong combination.
Others made light comments, saying political alliances in Nigeria are often based on convenience rather than long-term plans.
A few people warned that the biggest challenge may not come from the ruling party but from internal disagreements within the coalition itself.
Another opinion highlighted that while Kwankwaso has strong influence in the North, Nigerians still want to see clear plans for the economy, not just political meetings.
Some users also said that combining Obi’s credibility with Kwankwaso’s structure could create a serious challenge for the ruling party.
However, not everyone is convinced, as some Nigerians pointed out that political alliances in the country often break down before elections.
Meanwhile, some supporters praised the meeting, saying it shows unity and gives hope for a better Nigeria if leaders work together.
Others strongly supported the idea, expressing confidence that such a partnership could defeat the ruling party in 2027.
