The African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership crisis worsened as state chairmen of the party publicly supported INEC’s decision to remove the David Mark-led leadership.
Abia State ADC Chairman, Don Norman Obinna, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
He confirmed that the state chairmen have distanced themselves from both the David Mark and Nafiu Bala Gombe factions.
Obinna explained that the decision followed a National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja earlier on Tuesday.
Speaking alongside other state chairmen, Obinna said, “We fully support INEC in removing the David Mark-led faction.”
He added that the party leadership under ADC’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, is legal and recognized.
“ADC has no divisions; we are the official leadership of the party,” he stated.
INEC had delisted David Mark’s leadership of the ADC last week.
The Mark-led faction opposed the move, claiming it was a step toward creating a one-party state in Nigeria.
Despite the delisting, the David Mark faction announced it would continue holding congresses and its convention from April 7 to 14, 2026.
