Manchester City assistant coach, Pep Lijnders, has confirmed that Bernardo Silva will leave the club at the end of the season.
Silva, who is currently the team captain, had already suggested last year that he might leave after the Club World Cup.
Now, the Portuguese midfielder’s departure from Manchester City has been officially confirmed.
Lijnders described Silva as a very special player and said the team will feel his absence whenever he is not on the pitch, even for just one match.
He added that losing him for a whole season would be even more difficult, but said every journey must come to an end. He also wished Silva well and hopes he enjoys his final weeks at the club and gets a proper farewell.
At 31, Silva could return to Benfica, while other clubs like Juventus and teams in the Major League Soccer are also interested in signing him.
