Former U.S. President Donald Trump has explained the main reason behind America’s military action against Iran, saying the move was aimed at protecting key allies in the Middle East. He insisted the United States stepped in to prevent harm to friendly nations in the region.
Speaking during a national address, Trump said the U.S. is no longer dependent on Middle Eastern oil but remains committed to supporting allies like Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain. According to him, the U.S. presence is about security, not resources.
Trump also used the opportunity to criticize former President Barack Obama, blaming his 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran for empowering Tehran. He maintained that the deal could have allowed Iran to build dangerous nuclear weapons.
The U.S. leader defended his earlier decision to withdraw from the agreement, describing it as necessary to protect global security. He argued that staying in the deal would have put both America and its allies at risk.
On the issue of global tensions, Trump avoided direct comments about NATO, although he has previously criticized member countries for not doing enough to secure key global routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
He concluded by stating that the ongoing conflict has disrupted oil supply routes, but expressed confidence that stability would return and the vital shipping lane would reopen once the crisis ends.
