Nigeria recorded 20,838 new cases of HIV between January and March 2026, according to official data.
Lagos State reported the highest number with 2,298 cases, followed by Benue State with 1,949 infections.
Other states with high figures include Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Anambra, showing the spread across regions.
In northern Nigeria, Kaduna and Kano also recorded notable cases, alongside several other states.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government announced a $346 million investment to support HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria programmes.
The Minister of Health, Muhammad Pate, said the funding will strengthen healthcare services and improve disease control efforts.
