The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has given the Federal Government of Nigeria a four-day ultimatum to begin implementing a new salary structure for lecturers.

ASUU President Christopher Piwuna announced the deadline during a public event, stressing that the government must act quickly to avoid further action.

The union said the demand is aimed at improving lecturers’ welfare and addressing issues of poor pay that have affected the education system for years.

ASUU also expressed concern that delays in implementing agreements have led to repeated disputes between the union and the government.
