The Osun State Football Association has called on the state government to urgently step in as its teams face possible relegation.
Chairman Sola Fanawopo raised concern over the poor performance of both Osun United and Osun Babes in their respective leagues.
Osun United, competing in the Nationwide League, is close to the relegation zone, while Osun Babes are also struggling in the Women’s Premier League.
Officials say the teams must win their remaining matches to avoid dropping to a lower division, making the situation very tense.
Fanawopo appealed to the Deputy Governor of Osun State, urging him to assess the teams and improve their welfare and support system.
He warned that poor welfare and lack of support have affected players’ morale and performance, putting both teams at serious risk.
