At least 28 civilians have lost their lives following two separate drone strikes in Sudan, as the ongoing conflict continues to worsen. The attacks targeted both a busy market and a road.
In Darfur, a strike hit a market in Saraf Omra, killing over 20 people and injuring several others. Witnesses said the explosion involved a fuel truck that caused a large fire.
Another attack occurred in Kordofan, where a vehicle was struck on a highway, resulting in multiple civilian deaths and injuries. Medical sources confirmed the casualties.
The violence is linked to ongoing clashes between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, both accused of targeting civilian areas. Drone warfare has become more frequent in recent months.
According to the United Nations, hundreds of civilians have already died from similar strikes this year, despite repeated calls for restraint and protection of non-combatants.
The war, which started in 2023, has created a severe humanitarian crisis, displacing millions and worsening hunger across the country, with no clear end to the conflict in sight.
