Authorities in Taraba State have taken action against illegal charcoal production to protect the environment.

The enforcement team sealed several charcoal depots in Wukari Local Government Area during a recent operation.

Communities affected include Nakambo, Mahanga, and Bantaje, where illegal activities were discovered.

Officials said the move is part of efforts to enforce environmental laws and reduce deforestation in the state.

Although no arrests were made, authorities revealed that suspects fled before the operation and are now being tracked.

Residents have been encouraged to report illegal activities as the government continues to protect natural resources.
