Residents near the Valero Energy refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, were asked to stay indoors after an explosion triggered a fire at the facility.
Authorities instructed people to close doors and windows and follow safety measures while firefighters worked to control the blaze.
The explosion released thick smoke, prompting emergency crews, police, and environmental officials to respond quickly.
Valero said its emergency team is coordinating with local authorities, prioritizing the safety of workers and nearby residents.
Parts of State Highways 82 and 87 were closed to allow emergency vehicles to move freely, while environmental teams checked the air for hazards.
The refinery, about 90 miles east of Houston, processes 435,000 barrels of crude daily, and no injuries have been reported so far.
