Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, has opened up about challenges he faced in the music industry.
He revealed that between 2023 and 2024, several Nigerian artists mistreated him while he was trying to establish himself in the mainstream.
In a social media post, the ‘Ex-convict’ crooner said many colleagues did not offer him support or a safe space in the industry.
Shallipopi wrote on X, “2023/2024 many artist pour me spit for face…. I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean, ogun go kill of una one by one as time dey go.”
The singer rose to fame after his viral track ‘Elon Musk,’ which later got remixed with Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML, boosting his stardom.
In October 2023, Shallipopi credited Zlatan for giving his career a “life” without asking for payment, highlighting the rare support he received.
