Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed the federal government’s claim that the OPL 245 dispute has been resolved, insisting the case remains before the courts.
Atiku described President Tinubu’s administration’s statement as misleading, citing a pre-action notice by Malabu Oil as evidence that the matter is still unresolved.
He warned that excluding key stakeholders from negotiations raises serious due process concerns, highlighting pending cases in the Supreme Court and Federal High Court.
Atiku criticized the sidelining of Malabu, calling it “reckless” and not reflective of genuine negotiation or strength in handling the matter.
He also expressed alarm over reports that up to 30 percent of NNPCL’s Joint Venture assets could be sold without transparency, calling it “the quiet auctioning of Nigeria’s future.”
The former VP urged industry groups, including PENGASSAN and NUPENG, to remain vigilant and resist any opaque actions regarding Nigeria’s petroleum assets.
