The Lagos State Task Force, working with the Lagos State Mobile Court, impounded eight vehicles in Ikorodu for driving against traffic. The exercise targeted motorists who disregard traffic rules and endanger lives.
The operation included on-the-spot prosecution, aiming to reduce risky driving and enhance safety for pedestrians, schoolchildren, and passengers in the area.
Officials said reckless one-way driving has caused avoidable accidents, injuries, and fatalities, prompting stricter enforcement in line with public safety concerns.
The Task Force covered multiple locations in Ikorodu, including the Haruna axis, where offenders were apprehended and arraigned before the Mobile Court.
Five drivers admitted to charges of driving against traffic and illegal U-turns, while three pleaded not guilty, with cases adjourned to March 24 and May 5, 2026.
Chairman Adetayo Akerele stressed that enforcement would continue under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018 to ensure compliance and improve road safety.
