The Federal Government of Nigeria has started plans to evacuate its citizens from parts of the Middle East due to rising tensions. The move comes as security concerns grow following recent attacks linked to Iran, affecting travel and safety across the region.
According to officials, arrangements are ongoing, including funding approvals and logistics. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed that authorities are working to ensure Nigerians return home safely.
Countries affected include Israel, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait. Priority will be given to those in high-risk areas, although evacuation from Iran presents logistical challenges.
Meanwhile, Iran has offered support for the evacuation process, keeping its borders open for safe passage. The Nigerian government has reassured citizens of its commitment to bringing everyone home as plans continue to unfold.
