Several passengers were injured on Monday after a train travelling between Abuja and Kaduna derailed following a collision. The incident occurred near Asham, raising concerns among travelers on the busy rail route. Authorities quickly responded to the situation to ensure the safety of passengers on board.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident and said several passengers sustained injuries. He added that no deaths were recorded at the time the report was filed.
According to officials, injured passengers were taken back to Idu Train Station where they received medical attention. Emergency responders and railway staff worked quickly to assist those affected and restore calm after the derailment.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation said it has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities assured the public that steps will be taken to improve safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
