A top U.S. Army drone expert has warned that Iran could strike California at any moment using long-range attack drones. The FBI issued an urgent alert to law enforcement agencies about potential drone attacks from vessels off the U.S. coast.
Brett Velicovich, a former Army intelligence and special operations officer, said Iran has the technology and motivation to target population centers, infrastructure, and ports. He described the U.S. as “extremely vulnerable” and unprepared for such attacks.
Velicovich explained that Iran possesses thousands of drones capable of being controlled remotely over hundreds of miles, potentially launched from manned or unmanned ships using networks like Starlink. He emphasized that these drones could be deployed in swarms to maximize impact.
The expert stressed that Iran’s strategy is to create fear by targeting civilians, critical infrastructure, and economic hubs. Venues such as hotels, sporting events, office buildings, and military bases are all potential targets, making the threat a matter of national concern.
