President Donald Trump said the United States has avoided destroying Iran’s electricity infrastructure even amidst heavy strikes on the Islamic Republic. Trump told reporters that while U.S. forces have the capability to cripple Iran’s power systems quickly, Washington is choosing not to pursue that option in order to limit damage to non‑military targets.
Trump made the comments as part of broader remarks on the ongoing conflict, asserting U.S. forces have largely weakened Iran’s military and that there is “practically nothing left” for American forces to target, signaling his view that military objectives are close to completion.
Despite this restraint on civilian infrastructure, intelligence reports suggest that Iran’s government and leadership remain stable despite weeks of U.S. and Israeli strikes, with Tehran’s regime still firmly in control.
Meanwhile, the wider war has seen increased regional escalation, including attacks on transport and commercial sites across the Gulf and ongoing airstrikes, highlighting the complex and evolving nature of the conflict.
