The Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Daniel Nwachukwu, has urged students to report cases of sexual harassment, extortion and other misconduct to the appropriate authorities within the institution. He assured students that the university will protect the identity of anyone who reports such cases and ensure that offenders face disciplinary action.
The warning was given during the university’s 14th matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session held in Ikwo, Ebonyi State. The vice-chancellor emphasized that the institution maintains zero tolerance for unethical behaviours such as cultism, exam malpractice, “sex-for-marks,” and indecent dressing.
According to him, students should report such issues to key university officials including the Chief Security Officer, the Dean of Students’ Affairs and the SERVICOM office. He stressed that misconduct damages the core values of integrity and excellence the university aims to uphold.
Nwachukwu also revealed that the institution admitted 5,227 new students for the 2025/2026 academic session. He encouraged the freshmen to stay focused on their studies and disclosed that the university plans to introduce Artificial Intelligence courses to prepare students for future global opportunities.
