Jigawa gov’t increases ward heads’ allowances to N10,000

The Jigawa State Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowances of ward heads (Maiunguwa) from ₦3,000 to ₦10,000. The decision was announced following a State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Umar Namadi.

Governor Namadi explained that the increment reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions and recognizing the crucial role of ward heads in local governance.

He emphasized that ward heads act as grassroots leaders, implementing government policies and ensuring community development, and described them as the “foot soldiers” of traditional institutions.

The government highlighted that the inclusive approach aims to empower local leaders and ensure no group is left behind in efforts to build a greater Jigawa State.
