Saudi Arabia has reported its first civilian deaths since the conflict with Iran began. A military projectile hit a residential area, killing an Indian and a Bangladeshi citizen, while 12 other Bangladeshis were injured, the Saudi statement said.
The news comes as Iran reportedly appointed Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader, amid rising tensions across the Gulf. Hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones have struck regional targets in the past nine days.
Israel and Iran have continued to exchange strikes, with Israel targeting oil storage facilities in Tehran and southern Lebanon, while Iran hit a desalination plant in Bahrain. Iranian hard-liners have vowed a stronger military response, warning the region will not bend to foreign pressure.
Arab League chief Ahmed Abouel Gheit criticized Iran’s attacks on Arab countries, calling them reckless. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian insisted that the country would continue to defend itself against perceived U.S. and Israeli aggression, maintaining a firm stance in the conflict.
