Ahmed Audi retires as NSCDC boss

Ahmed Audi has retired as Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps after reaching the mandatory retirement age. He officially stepped down during the 2026 World Civil Defence Day celebration at the corps’ headquarters in Abuja.

Audi was appointed on 1 March 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and led the agency for five years. The Federal Government is yet to name a successor to the top position.

Born on 30 September 1967 in Nasarawa State, Audi built a career in public service and security administration. He holds a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Calabar and is a member of the National Institute (mni). His retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in the leadership of the NSCDC.
