Alleged forgery on UK property: Court grants Prof Ozekhome, one other N10m bail each

A High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has granted bail of N10 million each to Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and his co-defendant, Ponfa Useni. They were arraigned on a 12-count charge filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation over alleged forgery linked to a UK property.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to accusations that they forged documents, including an international passport and a power of attorney, to claim ownership of a London property reportedly connected to the late General Jeremiah Useni. The prosecution did not oppose their bail request.

Justice Chizoba Oji ruled that each defendant must provide one surety who owns property in the FCT and also deposit their international passports with the court as part of the bail conditions.

The judge added that if they fail to meet the conditions by Monday, they would be remanded in prison. The case is expected to continue as legal proceedings unfold.
