Lookman inspires 4-1 Atletico win over Brugge

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman made a strong impact from the bench as Atlético de Madrid defeated Club Brugge 4-1 to advance 7-4 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. After a 3-3 draw in the first leg, the Spanish side stepped up at home to secure qualification.

Alexander Sørloth opened the scoring in the first half before Brugge responded through Joel Ordonez. Atletico regained control shortly after the break when Johnny Cardoso restored their lead. The hosts dominated key moments, showing greater sharpness in front of goal.

Manager Diego Simeone introduced Lookman in the 70th minute, and the Nigerian winger quickly changed the tempo of the match. He played a key role in a fast counter-attack, setting up Sørloth for his second goal of the night. The Norwegian later completed his hat-trick to seal an emphatic win.

The victory sends Atletico into the quarter-finals with confidence, while Brugge exit after a competitive tie. Lookman’s assist adds to his growing tally this season, highlighting his importance to the Madrid club’s European campaign.
