Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has appointed his Chief of Staff, Peter Pereotubo Akpe, as the new Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State. The Bayelsa State House of Assembly confirmed and approved the nomination during a plenary session on Tuesday.
Akpe, a former lawmaker and majority leader from Edebebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area, holds a doctorate in Educational Management and is a pastor with the Redeemed Church of God.
He has been recognized for effective inter-ministerial coordination, policy implementation, and strategic planning in the Diri administration, making him a trusted choice for the deputy governor position.
By appointing Akpe, Governor Diri maintains the deputy governorship in Sagbama and Bayelsa West Senatorial District, the home district of the late former deputy governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
