The Joint Health Sector Unions in Lagos has suspended its strike after intervention from the Lagos State House of Assembly. Union leaders said the decision followed wide consultations and assurances that their concerns would be addressed. Members have now been directed to return to work across health facilities.
According to the union’s state secretary, discussions involved labour bodies such as the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, alongside other professional groups. They described the lawmakers’ involvement as timely and decisive in resolving the dispute.
The union also stressed that no worker should face punishment for participating in the industrial action, noting that this guarantee formed part of the agreement reached during negotiations. Leaders said the suspension was taken in the interest of public health and workplace harmony.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government confirmed that both sides held productive talks and agreed on timelines to resolve outstanding issues. Authorities thanked residents for their patience and assured that normal healthcare services would continue as dialogue progresses.
