Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni has criticised President Bola Tinubu for approving the revised Electoral Act shortly after it was passed. Speaking on The Morning Show, he questioned whether the president had enough time to review the document before signing it into law.
Rufai described the swift approval as troubling, arguing that major legislation should undergo careful scrutiny before presidential assent. He wondered publicly if legal advisers, including the attorney-general, had fully examined the bill and clarified its contents before it was endorsed.
He also criticised the National Assembly, accusing lawmakers of failing to act independently. According to him, a strong legislature and opposition are essential for democracy, but he believes both appear weak in holding the executive accountable.
The broadcaster further said opposition parties should be more proactive, even suggesting they learn strategy from the All Progressives Congress. His comments have sparked debate online about legislative oversight, transparency, and the speed of lawmaking in Nigeria.
