Kwara Gov visits Niger over Borgu attacks, seeks stronger security collaboration

The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, paid a condolence visit to Niger State following deadly attacks in communities within the Borgu Emirate. The visit came amid grief and tension after violent incidents reportedly claimed lives, destroyed property, and forced many residents to flee their homes.

During the meeting with Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Abdulrazaq described the attacks as tragic and deeply troubling. He noted that beyond the loss of lives, the violence has disrupted livelihoods and worsened insecurity across affected areas, leaving families displaced and communities shaken.

Speaking as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, he conveyed sympathies from fellow governors and assured that stronger cooperation with security agencies and neighbouring states would be pursued. He emphasized that joint action is necessary to tackle threats affecting border regions and restore stability.

In response, Bago thanked his counterpart for the visit, calling it a powerful sign of unity and shared responsibility. He pointed out that both states share boundary areas around Borgu and face similar challenges, stressing that coordinated efforts between governments are essential to improving safety and rebuilding public confidence.
