The Lagos State Fire Service has explained that completely eradicating fire outbreaks may not be realistic, even with strong prevention measures. According to the agency, fires can be triggered by several unpredictable factors, including electrical faults, human error, and environmental conditions, making total elimination nearly impossible.

Officials noted that while technology, awareness campaigns, and safety regulations have helped reduce incidents in many areas, risks still remain. They stressed that densely populated urban centers like Lagos State face unique challenges such as overcrowded buildings, poor wiring systems, and unsafe storage of flammable materials, all of which increase the likelihood of fire emergencies.

The service emphasized that prevention is still the best strategy, urging residents to follow safety guidelines, install fire extinguishers, and avoid risky practices like illegal electrical connections. They added that public cooperation plays a major role in minimizing disasters, as emergency agencies alone cannot monitor every household or business location.

Authorities concluded that instead of expecting fires to disappear completely, communities should focus on preparedness and rapid response.
