President Bola Tinubu has praised Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for delivering major development projects across the state. The president spoke in Birnin Kebbi during the official inauguration of the newly completed State Secretariat Complex, which was named in his honour. He said he was impressed but not surprised by the governor’s performance, describing him as a leader with vision and dedication to the people.
During the visit, Tinubu commissioned several projects completed under the Idris administration. These included the Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park aimed at improving transportation and boosting commercial activities. He also inaugurated the expanded three-lane Emir Haruna Road, the dualised Old Argungu Bypass, and the Kauran Gwandu College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences in Ambursa to strengthen healthcare training in the state.
The State Secretariat Complex, which reportedly cost billions of naira, was originally started in 2012 but later revived and completed by Governor Idris. The facility is expected to modernise government operations and provide a better working environment for civil servants. Tinubu assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue supporting states in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
The president’s one-day working visit also coincided with the closing ceremony of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, where he attended as Special Guest of Honour. The event highlighted Kebbi’s rich cultural heritage while showcasing ongoing efforts to promote tourism and economic growth in the state.
