Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian, DeeOne, has said that Peter Obi cannot rely on sympathy votes to win the 2027 presidential election. In a viral Instagram video, DeeOne reacted to the emergence of the City Boy Movement, a political support group backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. The group, reportedly linked to Seyi Tinubu, has drawn attention because some former Obi supporters are said to be involved in coordinating its activities in parts of the South-East.
Speaking in the video, DeeOne advised the former Labour Party presidential candidate to be more strategic and financially prepared ahead of the next election. He argued that while Obi gained strong emotional support in 2023, that approach alone may not be enough in 2027. According to him, presidential elections require structure, planning, and proper funding.
The comedian also criticized Obi’s popular phrase, “We no dey give shishi,” suggesting that campaign agents and supporters on the ground need proper welfare and logistics. He claimed that during the last election, some Labour Party agents allegedly lacked basic support such as food and water at polling units. DeeOne stressed that investing in campaign organization is different from vote buying, which is illegal.
He concluded by encouraging Obi’s supporters to tell him the truth if they truly want him to succeed. According to DeeOne, asking supporters to donate transparently or personally funding campaign activities could strengthen Obi’s chances. He maintained that honest criticism does not mean hatred, but rather a desire to see better preparation for the 2027 race.
