Why I can’t stand Obasanjo – Sowore

Prominent Nigerian activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has publicly stated why he cannot stand former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In a recent interview, Sowore criticized Obasanjo’s political record and actions, saying they conflict with the principles of good governance and accountability.

Sowore highlighted what he described as Obasanjo’s failures in promoting transparency and fostering national unity during his tenure as president. He argued that some of Obasanjo’s policies contributed to systemic corruption and weakened institutions, which continue to affect Nigeria today.

The activist further criticized Obasanjo’s influence in contemporary politics, suggesting that his interventions often undermine democratic processes and hinder the emergence of younger, reform-minded leaders. Sowore also claimed that Obasanjo has occasionally supported political agendas that do not prioritize the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

Sowore concluded by emphasizing the need for leaders to be accountable and responsive to citizens, stating that he cannot endorse any figure whose actions he believes harm the country’s democratic and developmental progress.
