Popular content creator Fari has raised concern online after witnessing a fresh demolition in Lagos that left several residents homeless. In a video shared on social media, she described returning from the gym to find homes along Silverbed Road being torn down, leaving families stranded with their belongings scattered on the roadside.
According to Fari, many victims claimed they had received no prior notice and were forced to move their possessions hurriedly. Security operatives reportedly fired tear gas during disputes that arose as residents tried to protect their property.
Some affected residents were seen sitting beside salvaged belongings, unsure of where to go next. One woman, a tailor, lamented that all her household items and work tools were left outside with no alternative shelter provided.
Fari also noted that many victims were too afraid to record or speak publicly, fearing their phones could be seized or destroyed. She stressed that such demolitions happen frequently but rarely get attention because affected residents often stay silent.
