ADC Warns Lagos Residents Against Sharing PVC Details With Political Groups

The Lagos State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned residents not to share images or personal details from their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) with political groups or unknown individuals. The caution was contained in a statement issued by the party’s Directorate of Communication and signed by its spokesperson, Oluwasegun Adekayero.

According to the party, the warning became necessary after reports of a circulating message allegedly asking Lagos residents, especially those on the mainland, to send clear photographs of their PVCs through WhatsApp for mobilisation purposes. The ADC described the development as risky and capable of exposing citizens to privacy breaches.

Adekayero emphasized that the PVC is an official and confidential document issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He noted that it contains sensitive personal data that must be protected at all times. He added that collecting PVC images through informal or unsecured channels could lead to misuse of voter information and weaken trust in the democratic process.

The party advised Lagos residents to safeguard their voter cards and avoid sending copies through digital platforms without proper verification. It also encouraged the public to report suspicious requests to the relevant authorities. Reaffirming its position, the ADC said it remains committed to lawful political engagement, civic education, and issue-based campaigns that respect citizens’ rights.
