In a tragic turn of events, Mallam Hassan Yahaya Egwa, a senior official of the NG-CARES program in Nasarawa State, was killed by gunmen on the night of August 14, 2024. The incident occurred at his new residence in the Angwan Mai Matasa area of Lafia metropolis.

The NG-CARES program, initiated by the Federal Government, aims to support vulnerable Nigerians who were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Egwa’s death has left a void in the community, and he will be buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday. Friends and colleagues have taken to Facebook to express their condolences and share their grief over the loss.
