The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, as Chairman of its newly established Leadership Forum. Duke, who previously contested for president and recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was confirmed during a stakeholders’ and executive meeting of the party in Cross River State.
Party leaders described the Leadership Forum as the highest advisory body within the state chapter that is not based on elections. According to a communiqué signed by the state chairman, Dr. John Ogar, the forum was created to bring together experienced and respected members who can offer direction and guidance to the party.
As chairman, Duke will oversee activities across the three senatorial districts of Cross River State. Other senior party figures were also assigned district responsibilities, including Chief Ray Ugba Morphy for the Northern District, Chief Akin Ricketts for the Central District, and Dr. Effiong Nyong for the Southern District.
During the meeting, the party also announced plans to expand its membership base, setting a goal of registering at least one million voters before the next general elections. Leaders further pledged to uphold discipline within the party, warning that the constitution would apply equally to all members, regardless of position.
