Rivers: Tinubu intervened – Wike on crisis between Fubara, State Assembly

Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu intervened in the political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly. According to Wike, the president’s involvement helped prevent the situation from escalating further.

Wike explained that the disagreement between the governor and the lawmakers had reached a level that required the attention of the presidency. He noted that Tinubu’s intervention was aimed at restoring order and ensuring that democratic processes in the state were not undermined.

The crisis in Rivers State has been marked by tension between the executive arm and the legislature, raising concerns about governance and stability. Wike said dialogue and respect for institutions remain the best way to resolve such disputes, rather than prolonged political confrontation.

He added that President Tinubu’s role shows the importance of leadership and mediation in times of political uncertainty. Wike urged all parties involved to prioritise the interest of Rivers State residents and work together for peace and effective governance.
