Tinubu Meets Abdulrazaq At State House Over Kwara Terrorist Attack

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, at the State House in Abuja following a deadly terrorist attack in parts of the state. The meeting came a day after armed extremists launched coordinated attacks on Nuku and Woro communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, leaving widespread destruction and loss of lives.

Reports from the state confirmed that no fewer than 75 residents were killed, while several homes were burnt during the assault. According to Rauf Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara governor, the victims were mostly moderate Muslims who were targeted for refusing to submit to extremists promoting an unfamiliar and radical ideology. The incident has shocked residents and reignited concerns over rising insecurity in the North-Central region.

In response to the attack, President Tinubu ordered the immediate deployment of an army battalion to the affected area. The new military formation will lead a special security effort known as “Operation Savannah Shield,” aimed at stopping further attacks and restoring peace in vulnerable communities. The President stressed the need to decisively confront the perpetrators and prevent a repeat of such violence.

The federal government said the operation would focus on protecting civilians and dismantling terrorist networks operating in the region. The meeting between Tinubu and AbdulRazaq underscores the government’s commitment to working closely with state authorities to address security threats and ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.
