The newly elected Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has openly declared its full loyalty to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Turaki. The state leadership described the Turaki-led NWC as the only recognised and legitimate authority guiding the affairs of the party at the national level.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary-elect, Prince Dr Christopher Odianarewo, said the state chapter is fully aligned with the national leadership’s plan to rebuild and reposition the party. He explained that the new Lagos PDP leadership is entering a phase focused on discipline, unity and strategic planning, with total support for decisions taken by the Turaki-led NWC.
Odianarewo dismissed reports suggesting that a court ruling had invalidated the national leadership, describing such claims as false and aimed at causing confusion. He urged party members to ignore what he called misleading rumours and remain committed to unifying the PDP. According to him, the outcome of the Ibadan convention, which produced the current leadership, cannot be overturned through indirect legal actions.
The Lagos PDP leadership also said it has adopted the “Turaki Roadmap,” which focuses on grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy and strengthening the party’s role as a credible opposition. Odianarewo stressed that loyalty to the national leadership is non-negotiable and called on party members across Lagos and Nigeria to stay focused, united and committed to rebuilding the PDP ahead of future elections.
