The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that about 20 ships are currently discharging petroleum products and other cargo at major Lagos ports, including Apapa, Lekki, and Tin Can Island. The Authority said the ongoing operations reflect steady activities across the port corridors.
According to the NPA, the vessels are handling different types of cargo such as petrol, diesel, crude oil, buckwheat, base oil, bulk gas, containers, general goods, fresh fish, bulk gypsum, and urea. This mix of consignments highlights the strategic role of Lagos ports in supporting Nigeria’s energy supply and general trade.
The Authority also revealed that port activities are expected to increase in the coming days, as 39 additional vessels are scheduled to arrive between now and February 15. These incoming ships will bring in petroleum products, food items, aviation fuel, crude oil, condensate, fertiliser, bulk wheat, containers, and other general cargo.
In addition, 18 vessels are presently at anchorage waiting for available berthing space. These ships are carrying cargo such as crude oil, bulk urea, aviation fuel, gas, containers, and general merchandise. The NPA assured that operations remain smooth, with measures in place to ensure efficient vessel handling and cargo movement at Lagos ports.
