The Enugu State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of 52 suspects and the recovery of firearms and ammunition within one week. The arrests were made between January 24 and January 30, following coordinated security operations across different parts of the state.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, those arrested include suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, homicide, rape, defilement, cult-related activities, and other criminal offences. He explained that the arrests were outcomes of targeted patrols and intelligence-driven investigations carried out by officers.
During the same period, the police rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered one firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition of various calibres, and six stolen vehicles. Officers also seized hard drugs and large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, showing an increased crackdown on drug-related crimes in the state.
Ndukwe attributed the successes to improved intelligence gathering, dedication of police personnel, and cooperation with other security agencies and members of the public. He assured residents that the Command remains committed to maintaining safety and urged citizens to continue providing timely and useful information to help prevent crime.
