IPOB lawyer, Ejiofor disagrees with Emma Powerful on Feb. 2 lockdown order, says he’s compromised

Human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has urged Ndigbo to ignore the purported lockdown order announced by IPOB’s Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful. The statement by Powerful had called for a total shutdown of the South-East on Monday, February 2, 2026, in solidarity with Onitsha traders whose shops were closed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for observing the sit-at-home order.

Ejiofor clarified that IPOB has consistently denounced all sit-at-home directives and has no connection with the alleged February 2 lockdown. He described the announcement as “fake” and “a calculated falsehood” aimed at spreading fear and disruption in the region.

The lawyer warned that the platform known as Emma Powerful has been compromised by vested interests exploiting communities for personal gain. He emphasized that any messages from the source should be treated with extreme suspicion or outright contempt.

Ejiofor stressed that IPOB remains committed to peace and lawful activities, urging Ndigbo to continue their normal daily routines without fear. He noted that the circulation of false directives risks reopening old wounds and empowering violent opportunists in the region.
