Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, successfully foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters in Borno State on Saturday. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the encounter occurred around 1:40 a.m., with soldiers engaging the attackers during a coordinated operation.
During the clash, the troops opened fire, forcing the terrorists to retreat in disarray. One suspected insurgent was neutralised, while the military sustained no casualties. Following the confrontation, the troops conducted a thorough search of the area.
Authorities recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The soldiers expended a total of 47 rounds in the engagement, showcasing operational efficiency and preparedness.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Nigerian security forces to maintain peace and security in the North East, disrupting terrorist activities and safeguarding communities from insurgent threats.
